School-Based Crisis & Loss Forum

Community Hospice in partnership with Stanislaus County Office of Education (SCOE) is pleased to present a School Based Crisis and Loss Forum featuring keynote speaker David Schonfeld, MD, Director of the National Center for School Crisis and Bereavement.
Dr. Schonfeld has provided consultation and training on school crisis and loss in the aftermath of numerous school and community crisis events and disasters within the United States and abroad, including school shootings in Parkland, FL and Newtown, CT. As a developmental-behavioral pediatrician and Professor in Social Work and Pediatrics at the University of Southern California and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, Dr. Schonfeld will share from 30 years of experience and expertise to offer some practical suggestions on how to prepare for a crisis. He will identify common adjustment difficulties in children in the aftermath of a crisis and practical approaches to promote effective coping strategies to mitigate the impact.
